PSA B71 2290, B71 2312 and Opel OV0401547: engine oil for Stellantis brands
Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Fiat are now all part of Stellantis – and their oil standards often sit side by side on one label. Find out what PSA B71 2290, B71 2312, Opel OV0401547 and the GM and Fiat codes mean, and which Elat engine oils list them.
One group, several families of standards: PSA, Opel, GM and Fiat
Peugeot, Citroën and DS, formerly under the PSA umbrella, now belong to the Stellantis group, as do Opel, Vauxhall and Fiat. Oil containers accordingly show standards from several traditions side by side: PSA standards with the B71 prefix, Opel’s own OV0401547 standard, GM standards from the years when Opel was part of General Motors, and Fiat standards numbered 9.55535. With “Stellantis FPW9.55535/03”, the group name itself appears on one Elat label.
What counts is only the standard given in your vehicle’s owner’s manual – usually a B71 code for a Peugeot or Citroën, often OV0401547 for a newer Opel and a GM standard for an older Opel. The fact that two brands now belong to the same group does not make their standards interchangeable.
In brief
Owner’s manuals for Peugeot and Citroën name PSA standards with the B71 prefix, newer Opel models often OV0401547 and older Opel models GM standards. In the Elat range, B71 2290 appears on 5W30 Cipe C2 and B71 2312 on 0W30 Profi Tec for Euro 6. We reproduce GM entries exactly as printed – for example “GM DX2-Gen2”.

PSA B71 2290 and B71 2312: the low-ash PSA standards in the Elat range
In the Elat range, PSA B71 2290 is listed by 5W30 Cipe C2, a 5W-30 of ACEA class C2 that also names API SN/CF, Renault RN0700 and Fiat 9.55535-S1. ACEA C2 describes low-ash, low-friction oils with a reduced high-temperature viscosity. According to its product description, Cipe C2 is an HC-synthesis oil designed with drain intervals of up to 30,000 km in mind; its label also carries recommendations for Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota.
The B71 2312 0W-30 standard is listed by 0W30 Profi Tec for Euro 6, a fully synthetic 0W-30 of ACEA class C2 with API SP (RC). Its product description names engines with exhaust after-treatment, petrol and diesel alike, as its field of use. The label also lists Opel/Vauxhall OV0401547 and Fiat 9.55535-DS1/GS1 – entries from all three families of standards on one container.
The two PSA standards cannot simply be swapped: in the Elat range they appear on oils of different viscosity, and the owner’s manual decides which one your engine needs.
B71 2297, B71 2296 and B71 2010: further PSA codes on the label
B71 2297 appears on 5W30 Mega Tec LongLife 3, a 5W-30 of ACEA classes C2/C3. B71 2296 is listed by three oils of ACEA class A3/B4, which are therefore not low-ash: 10W40 MM8 Semi Synthetic, 10W40 High Tec Quantum and – with the addition “(Level 3)” – 5W40 K2 Hightec HC Synthetic. Finally, 0W20 VW Tec Blue Oil lists PSA B71 2010.
Where a low-ash standard such as B71 2290 is required, an oil that lists only B71 2296 is no substitute. Always compare the full code, not just the B71 prefix.

Approval or specification?
Only expressly stated manufacturer approvals are marked “Approval”. For your vehicle or machine, the owner’s manual and the manufacturer’s approval lists always take precedence. If in doubt, we are happy to advise you.
Opel OV0401547 oil and the GM standards: what the label says
Opel and Vauxhall, part of General Motors until 2017, use a standard of their own: OV0401547. In the Elat range, four oils list it as “Opel/Vauxhall OV0401547”: 0W30 Profi Tec for Euro 6, 5W30 Mega Tec LongLife 3, 5W40 High Tec Quantum and 0W20 VW Tec Blue Oil. 5W30 Premium LongLife 3 lists the standard with the suffixes “-D30” and “-G30”, exactly as printed on its label.
Older Opel owner’s manuals, by contrast, often name GM standards. The Longlife standards GM-LL-A-025 (petrol engines) and GM-LL-B-025 (diesel engines) are listed by 5W40 High Tec Quantum and 5W40 K2 Hightec HC Synthetic; Mega Tec prints them as “GM-LL-A-025” and “GM-LLB025”.
With the remaining GM entries, the exact wording matters. Mega Tec and the 5W-40 High Tec Quantum list “GM DX2-Gen2” and the 0W-20 lists “GM DX-D” – we reproduce both exactly as printed and do not equate them with a licensed GM standard. The words “GM dexos 2” appear only on Premium LongLife 3, as a specification; the label does not state a dexos licence.
Fiat 9.55535 and Stellantis FPW9.55535/03: the Fiat line
Fiat 9.55535 is the number under which Fiat files its engine oil standards, followed by a suffix. In the Elat range you will find 9.55535-S1 on Cipe C2, 9.55535-S2 on the 5W-40 High Tec Quantum, 9.55535-S3 on Mega Tec, 9.55535-DS1/GS1 on Profi Tec and 9.55535-H2/M2/N2/Z2 on the K2. The suffixes stand for different requirements – use the one printed in your owner’s manual.
Stellantis FPW9.55535/03 is listed as a specification by 5W30 Premium LongLife 3. As with every code on this page, copy the owner’s manual entry character for character.
Elat engine oils are made in Germany, and Global Tech Lubricants delivers them to workshops, retailers, industry, fleets and bus companies across the country. Frequently asked questions
How do PSA B71 2290 and B71 2312 differ?
They are two separate PSA standards. In the Elat range, B71 2290 appears on a 5W-30, 5W30 Cipe C2, and B71 2312 on a 0W-30, 0W30 Profi Tec for Euro 6; both oils belong to the low-ash ACEA class C2. The owner’s manual determines which standard your engine requires.
Is “GM dexos 2” on the label a licence?
No. On the label of 5W30 Premium LongLife 3, “GM dexos 2” appears in the list of specifications; the label does not state a licence. We likewise reproduce the entries “GM DX2-Gen2” and “GM DX-D” on other Elat oils only as printed.
Which standard applies to a newer Opel?
Owner’s manuals for newer Opel and Vauxhall models often name OV0401547, older ones frequently GM standards such as GM-LL-A-025 or GM-LL-B-025. Four Elat oils list OV0401547, and Premium LongLife 3 lists it with the suffixes -D30 and -G30. The entry for your vehicle is decisive.
Can Peugeot, Citroën and Opel share the same oil?
Only if the oil lists every standard the respective owner’s manuals require. 0W30 Profi Tec for Euro 6, for example, lists both PSA B71 2312 and Opel/Vauxhall OV0401547, while 5W30 Mega Tec LongLife 3 lists B71 2297 and OV0401547. We are glad to check which standard each vehicle needs.
